Today at work this girl told me I had a thick accent. She asked me where I am from. I said Utah. Then she said, yeah, that is totally a Utah accent. (I STRONGLY disagree - and she has never been to Utah). Then a fellow Utahan asked me where I was born, I said Kansas City. The girl said, "oh, so you're from the South? Now your accent makes way more sense."
For real, when did Kansas become part of the south?

weird. i wonder what they think of long time Bostonians and their accents?
as for the Utahan accent, the other day I was cheering for a kid named Keaton on the M.C.S. soccer team, and I yelled "Go,
Key'-uhn!" (you know, sounds like "Layton" or "Lay-uhn".) I felt very chagrined when I realized what I said.
heeheehee... thanks to those ignorant people for giving me a little chuckle!
That's hilarious!
Ha! I love the whole 'Utah accent' thing. Because really? There's no such thing. Maybe we say Lava instead of Lauva.
Anyway, your Kansas accent really does give you away as a southerner...:)
