Poll Time

Dear Friends,

Your assistance is needed. Please leave your google readers and come to my actual blog, I need you all to participate in a little poll. Here is the question.

Which sport requires more athleticism?

Swimming or Baseball

I'm going to leave it at that because I'm trying really hard not to skew the results. Be prepared for my follow up post.

Notice that cheerleading isn't included in this poll, that is because cheerleading isn't a sport.

Feel free to leave a comment, snarky or not, I'm interested to hear what you think.

Take the poll. Thanks.

I can't do pictures either, because that would also skew the results of the poll - ie Pablo Sandoval.

Whatever, Kirsten Dunst is as athletic as they come. Go Toros! Go Toros!

Hmmm...my first inclination would be to say that swimming is more athletic than baseball. But I think swimming takes more hard work; whereas baseball takes more skill. If I spent a lot of time training, I could be a descent swimmer. No matter how much time I spend trying to hit a ball (no matter the speed), I'm never going to hit it. Ever. So I don't think I could vote, because I would say both in different ways. Please let me know if that made any sense.

i think that partly depends on what your definition of athleticism is -- is it skill, hand eye coordination, strength, physical ability ...

Something tells me this will polarize along gender lines.

No contest. Swimming wins it hands down. I mean, look at swimmers then look at baseball players. Which ones look more like athletes?

I think swimming

Anyone who says baseball should be embarrassed. Even if you're talking coordination and skill...swimming wins. Video games take skill and coordination, but I wouldn't call them athletes.

Definitely swimming. There is no question. And, I have to disagree with Kalli. I think if a person spent hours at the batting cages they would eventually be able to consistently hit a ball. (and then trot around the bases - how is that for snarky?)

Yes, I'm biased, but definitely swimming. You use your entire body all the time. Muscles get sore that you never knew you had. Baseball...well...how many players do you see just standing there? Hmm...it looks a little lazy to me :)

Ok well the definition of athleticism is as follows: physical prowess consisting variously of coordination, dexterity, vigor, stamina, etc.

I know exactly where this post is coming from, what you think vs. what Bill thinks; however, you are comparing oranges and apples. Anaerobic activity to aerobic. Both equally hard and demanding. BUT I agree with Kalli. Some skills simply cannot be learned. Everyone can learn to swim to a degree...it takes a TON of endurance to be good. But baseball requires more skill aka athleticism.

Now I know who I have made mad...but you also have to understand that I don't do either of those sports so my vote could be irrelevant because I'm not a well informed voter. :)

You guys are funny.
